The foundation started supporting me from when I was in high school. I had a huge balance of school fees and the foundation cleared it all.

After I completed high school, the foundation continued to pay my tuition fees and board in the university until I graduated in 2019 at Kenyatta University with a Bachelor Degree in Education.

May the Lord bless the Founder and the donors of the foundation to keep helping other needy students to achieve their dreams.

There are not enough words to fully express my heartfelt thanks for the sympathy, love and support that was afforded to me by Charles Musyoka Matuku Foundation throughout my education journey.

I joined the foundation in the year 2012 while in high school and at the verge of dropping out of school due to lack of school fees. The foundation helped me clear the outstanding balance and supported me until I graduated from Kenyatta University in the year 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in environmental planning and Management.

After finishing my degree program and getting a career, the foundation has given me an opportunity to work with them in reaching out to other students like me who are not able to continue with their education and support them. I appreciate this opportunity because I love giving back to the foundation and the society for the good deeds that were done to me.

I am delighted to be an alumnus of Charles Musyoka Matuku Foundation and I experience self-fulfillment while working with the foundation.

I am proud to be a Charles Musyoka Matuku Foundation alumnus. I joined the foundation in 2012 while in high school. I did not have hope in completing education due to huge school fees balance. The foundation paid the outstanding balance and school fees until I completed high school.

I scored a B a grade which enabled me to join the university. I was called to Machakos University in 2014 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in education. The foundation supported me through college until I graduated in the year 2018.

Currently, I am working as a teacher at St. Patrick’s Mutukya secondary school in Kitui.

The foundation helped me realize my dream of becoming a teacher and right now I am supporting my siblings to acquire education.

Brian Esami

CMMF approached me when I was in my second year of university. I was close to dropping out due to lack of school fees and money for board. As an orphan in the care of my grandmother, it was nearly impossible to raise money to keep me in university.

Since 2016, CMMF has supported me in paying me school fees and board until I graduated in 2019 from Maseno University with a Bachelors Degree in Education Arts. I volunteered at the Foundation from 2019 to January 2020, when I opted to pursue my career in education.

Currently, I am teacher at Kilingili Girls Secondary School.

Victoria Mathei

CMMF started to support me from high school to pay my school fees. The foundation continued to support me in university through paying my tuition and board until I graduated in 2019 at Maseno University with a Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Economics.

I am very grateful for the support that the foundation has been giving me. I hope to get a job and give back to my family and the society.

He is the third born in a family of eight. The father is a hawker and the mother is a stay home mom. The family is very poor and unable to pay his tuition. He has been with the foundation since his freshman year of high school. He is currently a sophomore studying tourism and wildlife.

I am thankful to Charles Musyoka Matuku Foundation for paying my school fees and other necessities while in high school. I managed to get a B- in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary School Education (KCSE) a grade which secured me an opportunity to join the university.

Currently, I am pursuing a degree in Bachelor of science in mathematics and chemistry at the university of Nairobi. This is a dream that the foundation helped me to realize.

I am grateful the foundation is still supporting me in the university through paying my school fees, accommodation and other necessities. I promise to work hard and get the best out of my degree in the university.

Caroline is an orphan living with her handicapped grandmother. They both depend on community and well-wishers for basic needs. It has been difficult for her to get school fees and basic needs. She joined the foundation in 2017 as a freshman in high school.

She has both parents who are peasant farmers. The parents have been having a difficulty time paying her school fees when she was learning at Wii sec sch. She was transferred to Mbusiani sec school and there is still a huge balance of 20,000 at the previous school.

The parents promised to try their best in paying the balance at Wii sec school as we help in paying school fees at her current school. The income they get from farming is very little and pilling of her school fees can hinder her academic performance.

She is a form 4 student at Mbusyani sec sch with a target of getting a C+ in KCSE.

She would like to pursue a bachelors degree in Education (English Literature) option. She would also want to practice her talents of hair-dressing and beauty therapy.

She has a goal of opening a business for her parents so that they can be able to get their basic needs with out much struggle.

She is thankful for the help that is accorded to her and she promises to work hard

- He lives with his mother who is a farmer in a small piece of land. The produce from the farm is not enough to provide basic needs and his school fees. The mother is living with two other children of his son who are orphans. The burden of school fees is too much for her.
- Kitheka walks to school every morning a distant of about 5 miles and back in the evening.
- He is a sophomore student at Kisasi Mixed sec sch with a target of getting a B in KCSE.
- He would like to pursue bachelor degree in Education because he has a passion of imparting knowledge to students.
- once he is employed, he want to help his family to leave above the poverty line and also educate his siblings.
- He is thankful for the support CMMF is giving him and he would like to support the foundation in the way he can

Vaati Mukuni
- She has both parent who are farmers. The father was a librarian at Mombasa Club. He was laid off from his job after he got a stroke on his right side. He came back home and started farming with his wife but most of the time he is sick.
- The little they get from farming is not enough to pay vaati’s school fees and buy basic needs.
- She is a senior student at Mutomo Girls sec sch with a goal of getting a C+ in KCSE.
- She wants to pursue a bachelors degree in Nursing so that she can provide medical services to people and also create awareness of personal hygiene in her community.
- She has a goal of helping her family be able to acquire basic needs without struggle and also establish an organization that will campaign for children’s right. She also has a goal of educating her community the importance of having latrines and encourage them to dig and use them.
- She appreciates the support accorded to her by CMMF and she now believes her dream for community service will come to pass.

- He has a dream of becoming a Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldier so that he can protect the nation and be among those who bring security in the country.
- He aims at helping his mother live a good life without struggling to get basic needs. He also has a goal of giving part of his income to charitable organizations so that more lives can be transformed in different ways.
- He is very thankful for the support that CMMF has given him since he was at the verge of dropping out of school.

Have both parents but lives with her mother who is a housewife and the father has been bed ridden from July, 2017 for cancer.

The mother has been doing casual work to support the family with basic needs, her school fees and their father’s medical bill.

Her school fees pilled up and the principal could not keep her in school. She has been on and off school and this has affected her performance so much.

She is a senior in high school studying at Thua mixed sec sch. She has a goal of attaining a grade of C+ in KCSE.

She wants to pursue a Bachelor degree in Education so that she can be a secondary school teacher and have an opportunity to impart knowledge to the students.

She believes that she will be employed and be able to help other needy students in her community to get secondary school education.

Beatrice is so thankful for the opportunity she has been given by the foundation to turn around her life through education.

She promises to work hard in school and get grades which will help her join university

- Has a single parent (mother) who does not have a job because at times she becomes mentally challenged . Hee lives with his aunt while the mother lives in a house she is given by their neighbor. The mother is not able to raise his school fees neither the aunt since she is a farmer on a very small piece of land and has other children in school.
- He is a sophomore student at Kanduti sec sch with a target of getting a B+ in KCSE
- He want to pursue a degree in civil engineering. He is motivated to do this course by the conditions of the roads in his community. Most of the roads are impassable and makes movement difficult.
- He has a goal of educating his siblings and build his mother a house since she lives in a house given by a well-wisher.
- He thanks the foundation for the support it has given him. He now believes in his dream of making a difference in his family and society.

- She lives with her mother who is a farmer and also looks after people’s herd for a fee.
- The income that the mother gets all together is not enough to pay her school fees and cater for basic needs since they majorly rely on farming and the rains are not reliable. She has been constantly sent home due to school fees and this has affected her performance so much.
- She is a senior student at Kaatene sec sch with a target of getting a B+ in KCSE
- She wants to pursue a bachelors degree in Nursing. She is moved to do this course due to the problem her community faces in accessing medical facilities.
- She has a dream of establishing a private hospital in her community to reduce the distance people walk to get medical care.
- She also has a goal of helping needy students access education through paying their school fees and providing guidance and counselling services to youths.
- She is thankful for the opportunity given to her by CMMF of learning and she is motivated to do the same initiatives once she completes education.

- He is an orphan and in grade 7 at Kaveta primary school. He has a goal of getting 400 marks and above in KCPE.
- He has a dream of becoming a pilot and help his grandmother get a good shelter and other basic needs comfortably.
- He is thankful that CMMF discovered him and it is helping him fulfil his dreams. He promised to support the works of the foundation once he becomes a pilot or when he gets any other job that the Lord will give to him.

He lives with both his parents but his dad has been sick for a while. His dad has a spinal cord issue and he can’t walk.

The mother has been doing the farming and extra work around town to support the family. The income she gets is so little to cater for basic needs, his school fees and his sickly father.

He is a sophomore in high school at Kangalu sec sch with a target of getting a B+ in KCSE.

He would like to pursue a degree in Automotive engineering so that he can open his own workshop and employ people.

He has a goal of helping his family to live above poverty line and also help students in the society to get education.

He is thankful for the help that CMMF has given him which will enable him achieve his goals through education.

Has both parents though very poor. Her parents do casual work when its available. The money they get from the casual work is not enough for basic needs and her school fees.

She is a junior in high school studying at Kilonzo sec sch and has a target of getting a B in KCSE.

She has a goal of pursuing bachelor degree in journalism, get employed and be able to support her family with basic needs and educate her siblings.

She would also like to create job opportunities for youths and solve societal problems around where she lives such as unemployment through speaking about them on TV and Radio stations.

She is thankful for the opportunity that CMMF has given her to able to learn and make a difference in the society.

- She lives with her mother. Their father has 3 wives and does not live with them or support them in any way. The mother is a farmer in a small piece of land which does not produce much. The income she gets she pays school fees and buys basic needs.
- She has been constantly sent home due to school fees balance. She was not able to do second term exam because she was sent home and the headmaster could not allow her do the exam without clearing the balance.
- She is a senior student at Nzunguni sec sch with a target of getting a C+ in KCSE.
- She has a dream of becoming a water engineer, her career choice is motivated by insufficient water supply in her community.
- She has a goal of helping her family improve their social status and also help the needy students in her community to access education.
- She is grateful for the support she has been given by CMMF to learn without being sent home constantly for unpaid school fees.

- Has both parents who are farmers.
- They live with two cousins who are orphans and both are in secondary school.
- Their house is made of bricks with weak rusted roof and weak doors.
- He has a huge fee balance of Kshs. 101,000, he was sent home when he was in form three and the principal did not allow him back to school even in form 4. Despite those challenges, he has been preforming well in school. He is a senior student at St. Joseph Mutito sec sch.
- Has a goal of getting a B in KCSE and pursue a Bachelors degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management.
- He has a dream of helping his family to move from the poverty bracket and also educate his younger siblings. He would also want to give back to the community through charitable works and touch other people’s heart like how his was touched by CMMF.
- He thanks foundation for giving him an opportunity to repeat in form four and be able to achieve his goals in life

- She has a dream of providing basic needs to her family, educate her siblings and other children in the society who are not able to access education due to lack of school fees.

He was born in 2002 at malatani village kanzau sub-location, katwala location. He is a sophomore in high school at kanzau mixed secondary school, he is an orphan who lives with his neighbour because the only person left (aunt) is not able to take care of him since she does not have any source of income

He has a goal of improving his academics and get a B+ in KCSE.

He would like to pursue a bachelors degree in Education so that he can instill knowledge to students and help them achieve their dreams.

He has a passion in helping orphans and vulnerable students in the society. His passion is driven by the fact that he is an orphan and he would like to help other students who have a background like his to become better people in the society.

He is thankful that the foundation discovered him and has given him a chance to live his dream

- He lives at Kunda Kindu in a rented single room with his aunt who is a peasant farmer. He has a father who is a single parent and rarely takes responsibility of paying his school fees. The aunt has difficulty in paying his school fees and provide basic needs.
- The family lives in an urban center due to lack of a piece of land to build a house or a home.
- He is a junior in high school at Kwa Ngindu sec sch and has a goal of getting a C+ in KCSE. He wants to pursue a bachelors degree in journalism.
- He thanks the foundation for the chance it has given him be able to learn without being sent home frequently for school fees. He will be keeping the foundation in prayers for it to expand and help more needy students.

Rose Mukai
- She lives with her mother who is a farmers. The father sent them away and now she is raised by mom.
- The mother farms a small piece of land and the produce is what she uses to pay Mukai’s school fees and the rest purchase basic needs.
- She is a junior student at Kanziko sec sch and has a goal of getting B+ in KCSE.
- She aspires to be a nurse so that she can provide health care services to the people in her community. She has been challenged by the distance they walk to the hospital and she would like to establish a dispensary near their home.
- She has a dream of building her mother a good house so that they can relocate from the muddy grass thatched house they are living in currently and also educate her siblings.
- She recognizes the commendable work that CMMF is doing and she is grateful to be in the program.

Faith Kalekye Musyoka
- Has both parents but very needy. The mother does casual work while the father is a security guard. She has 2 siblings in college and 3 in primary school.
- She is a sophomore student at Chuluni girls with a target of getting a B+ in KCSE
- She wants to pursue a degree in nursing and be able to give medical care to people. She is motivated to take this course because she has been taking care of her mother after she got an accident and broke her leg several times and she dresses her wounds.
- She has a goal of helping her family live above the poverty line and also train youths and children on first aid skills.
- She is thankful for the support given to her by CMMF of getting secondary school education which is vital in achieving her life goals.

Faith Mwende
- She is a freshman at St. Angela’s sec sch. She has a goal of getting an A in KCSE and pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine (neuro-surgeon).
- Apart from her career she would also like to start an NGO that will help needy students in the society achieve their dreams through education.
- CMMF means so much to her since she did not have hope of joining a good secondary school despite her exceptional performance in primary school due to lack of school fees.

Solomon Vincent Mukyoki

Solomon lives with his father, who is a peasant farmer and does casual work whenever it is available. The income he gets is not enough to provide basic needs or pay Solomon’s school fees, which are a lot since he attends a national school (Machakos Boys High School).

He joined the foundation in 2019.

She has both parents who are peasant farmers and do casual work whenever they arise. She has 2 siblings in high school and 2 in primary school. Her parents are not able to raise her school fees, that of her siblings, and provide basic needs to the family. She joined the foundation in 2019.

A partial orphan living with her mother who works in a lodging to clean and wash the bedding. The owner of the lodges has given her mother a room where she stays with her children in the same lodge. The salary that the mother gets is not enough to pay for her school fees and buy basic needs. She joined the foundation in 2019.

Irene Muli

A partial orphan living with her mother with is a house help in the neighborhood. She finds it difficult to pay her school since the income she gets is not enough to provide basic needs and school fees. She has been depending on well wishers to help her pay her daughter’s school fees because she is constantly sent home for fees. She joined the foundation in 2019.

Andronicus Makau

She lives with her parents who are very needy. The parents are farmers in a 1/2 acre land and the produce is little due to unreliable rainfall. The income they get from farming is not enough to cater for basic needs, her school fees, and that of her sister in secondary school. She joined the foundation in 2019.

Florah Esther

She has one parent (mother) who is mentally challenged but lives with her aunt on a rented single room in Majengo, Kitui town. The aunt does casual jobs whenever she finds them. She has 3 siblings who are schooling and the aunt feels overwhelmed in paying their school fees. She joined the foundation in 2019.

She is a partial orphan living with her mother who is a peasant farmer. The mother owns a small piece of land where she does farming. The produce is very little due to unreliable rainfall and this makes it difficult to pay her school fees. They have another sibling in secondary school and the mother has concentrated in paying school fees for the other. She feels the burden of paying school fees is overwhelming since she has been the only hope for them. She joined the foundation in 2019.

He lives with his mother who is a casual worker and she is epileptic . They live in a brick house which does not have furniture even a bed.

They get help for basic needs from the community members and well wishers. Raising his sch fees has been a challenge due to lack of a stable source of income.

He is a freshman in high school studying at Mutito sec sch.

He lives with his mother(separated) who does casual work whenever it is available. They live in a small single room in Kunda Kindu kitui town.

He has 2 siblings, one in secondary school and the other in primary school. They also live with their cousin who’s mother passed away and the father neglected the responsibility of taking care of him. The mother struggles to pay their school fees.

Joseph is a freshman in high school studying at Mwingi Sec sch.

Martha Wanza

She lives with both parents who are farmers. The father is a mason when it is off season. The mother was doing casual jobs but her leg got injured and she is not able to do much. Sometimes the father gets good money from masonry work but he ends up misusing it in alcoholism and the family is left struggling without basic needs. They are another student in secondary school and they have been struggling to pay for her school fees too. She joined the foundation in 2019.

Silas Bulimo

He has both parents who are subsistence farmers, during off season, the mother does casual jobs to provide basic needs. The father developed cardiovascular disease and the mother has become the sole breadwinner and his medication is too expensive. They also have another child who was born with a disability – not able to walk and also her medication is too expensive. It has been difficult to raise Silas’s school fees. He joined the foundation in 2020.

He is a partial orphan and lives with his father who works as a watchman in a school. The income he gets is not enough to take him to high school. The father borrowed money and other items from well wishers and still paying school fees is a challenge. He joined the foundation in 2020.

She lives with both parents who are needy. The parents are farmers in a small piece of land and the produce is not enough to cater for basic needs, her school fees and that of her sister who is in sec sch.

When Angela joined secondary school her parent sold a piece of land to her brother worth one hundred thousand. The uncle has been paying her school fees until the one hundred thousand is exhausted.

She is a freshman student at Kyondoni girls high sch.

She has both parents who are farmers, the father also does casual work whenever he finds them. The mother stays at home taking care of her lastborn child who is 9 years. Her daughter was born with a disability – curved backbone. She is not able to walk, talk, or feed herself. Her medical bills have been too high because despite her disability, her immunity is very low and recently they have been treating her TB. Their income is too low to pay Mercylyne’s fees, provide basic needs, and take care of their younger daughter. She joined the foundation in 2020.

James Mwanzia

He is a partial orphan living with his mother who is a small scale farmer. After his father died, the mother was sent away from their home by her in laws and they came back to his mother’s home. His uncles chased them away and they did not give her a land or a house. The mother has been given a house and a small piece of land by a well wisher to be cultivating in it. During off season, she weaves baskets and sells each and Ksh.30. The income is too little to pay her son’s school fees. He joined the foundation in 2020.

Rose Musenya

She lives with her father, her parents separated and remarried. Her mother does not care at all about her well being. The father is a farmer in a small piece of land given by his parents. Sometimes he does casual jobs when he finds them. He lives with 2 of his nephews who are orphans and getting basic needs has been a challenge. She joined the foundation in 2020.

Brian Mumo

He lives with both parents who are peasant farmers in a small piece of land. The father lost his job of supplying doughnuts at Wikilylie. In 2019, the younger child got burnt with hot tea and he suffered severe burns. He spent 3 months in the hospital and used all saving he has from his business. With time he was not able to sustain his business or even pay rent due to large hospital bills. The parents opted to relocate to their upcountry Kathukini where they built a small muddy house. The parents cultivate on a small piece of land and the produce is not enough to pay school fees and basic needs. He joined the foundation in 2020.

Samuel Mutua

He has both parents but they have neglected him. After the parents separated, the father went back to Kisii while the mother was left with Samuel in Kitui. The mother has been borrowing money from people to cater for basic needs and when she was not able to pay back the money borrowed, she ran away and left Samuel alone. He decided to go and live with the grandmother and while CMMF applications were being done, Mrs. Katusya looked for him and she could not find him. She had no idea of what has happened to him or where he was. His grandmother passed on and then Samuel became stranded. He was taken in by a guardian who is not a relative. He joined the foundation in 2020.

He lives with the grandparents. His parents separated while he was in class 2. Their parents remarried and Brian was lieft with his grandparents. None of his parents is concerned with his welfare. Teachers at the primary school that he was attending were paying for his meals and examination fees. The grandparents are peasant farmers and are too old to do extensive farming. He did not have hope of joining form one. He joined the foundation in 2020.

Vincent Mwangangi

He lives with both parents who are peasant farmers in a small piece of land. During off season the father does casual jobs whenever they find them. The mother lost her job as a cook for a school when she got pregnant. She underwent caesarean section delivery and developed complication. She was advised not to do hard jobs. The father’s income was too little to cater for Vincent to join form one. The parents had opted for him to repeat in class eight before CMMF came to help him. He joined the foundation in 2020.

She lives with her mother and grandparents, the mother has never been married. Her mother is working as a waitress in a hotel and her pay is too little to sustain her needs and that of her children. Grandparents are farmers and a bit old so they cultivate on a small piece of land. The mother and grandparents felt that they were not be able to take her to a boarding school and they opt to take her on at a day school where fees is affordable. CMMF came in and she was about to report to boarding school. She joined the foundation in 2020.
